1 Idealab
Pasadena, CA

Providing Ruby on Rails consultants/employees, plus app deployment at Engine Yard.
Idealab decided to use Rails for their latest startup/idea. We provided on-site architecture consulting services, plus 1 on-site Rails developer who may later be offered a job. The project has been going for several months and has been very successful. The application is deployed at Engine Yard.
2 Procore
Santa Barbara, CA

Providing Ruby on Rails consultants/employees.
Procore is a leader in the construction project management business. They've created a web-based application that's increasingly popular, and they need top Rails developers. Over a number of months, we've provided 4 Rails consultants and 1 Rails employee.
3 My Digital Life
Palo Alto, CA

We provided on-site architecture consulting services, plus 1 continuing on-site Rails consultant who may later be offered a job. The project has been going for several months and has been very successful. The application is deployed at Engine Yard.
4 Looksmart
San Francisco, CA

Providing Ruby on Rails consultants/employees.
We provided 2 on-site Rails consultants and 1 employee.
5 Amazon
Seattle, WA

Providing Perl/LAMP consultants/employees.
We've been working with Amazon since 2003 to provide top-notch Perl/LAMP developers. QHI consultants are on-site, helping with development of payment processing systems. Some of these consultants may later convert to Amazon employees.
6 Engine Yard
Sacramento, CA

High reliability, scalable, fully managed Ruby on Rails application hosting service.
In early 2006, we started getting Rails clients that needed super-solid, easily-scalable deployment solutions for their business-critical Rails applications.

We built a 5-server cluster to meet the needs of that first customer, and then we turned our attention to building an even better cluster that could be provisioned "by the slice".

Engine Yard is the result.

It provides a great place for customers to host their apps, and it also represents some of the most comprehensive work we've done in years... from the data center to hardware infrastructure to operating systems to server virtualization to the friendly web interface that makes it all easy for users to manage.

Engine Yard shows our commitment to Rails and our level of understanding of a wide range of technologies that come into play with any really serious Rails application.
7 Outdoor Central
Nashville, TN

Providing Ruby on Rails employees.
Outdoor Central is moving from a Perl-focused architecture to Rails. We're helping them build a solid team of permanent Rails employees in Nashville.

Ideal candidates have a solid Perl background and have transitioned to Rails in the past year or so. We found a great guy in Texas who moved to Nashville and started work at Outdoor Central in July.
8 Consolo Services
Lexington, KY

Provided Ruby on Rails employee.
Consolo Services and their local IT services provider, Voltaic Commerce, called upon us to help them find a full-time Ruby on Rails developer. The right candidate had to have solid experience in Linux and the general LAMP technologies, as well as demonstrated interest/experience in RoR.

One of the difficulties in this case was the location. Although a beautiful place, Rails developers are not common in Kentucky. But nonetheless, we found a great candidate in Alabama who wanted to keep his rural lifestyle, so all parties got what they needed in a short period of time.
9 Office of the Secretary of Defense
Washington, DC

Implemented TeamTrack software for a large Federal team.
This implementation utilized us in more of a management and analysis role, as well as the usual technical details of implementing TeamTrack software.

When we started this engagement, the client was using an older software system that was scheduled to be discontinued in a couple of weeks.

We worked very closely with the software configuration management team and some software developers to design a realistic process that would benefit all parties involved and be useful quickly.

We had five different processes to define that all integrated into one master solution, so we started with the most crucial and had a good foundation built in time for the changeover from the old system to new. This involved importing all data stored in the old system into the new system.

Work continued for several months and consisted of design review meetings with management. We implemented a structured process for implementing changes to the system, which were then tested and reviewed again through an iterative process, until management and users agreed upon a solution.

Once a new team was comfortable with the system and felt that it met their needs using standard best practices, the project was reviewed by top management and signed off as "done".
10 Accenture
(Morgan Stanley)

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Provided 3 Perl employees.
Accenture's client, Morgan Stanley, needed a team of top-notch Perl/Unix developers asap. We responded to the need and filled the positions over several weeks. All of our staffers were soon hired by Accenture as full-time employees.
11 National City Bank
Cleveland, OH

Integrated ChangeMan software with bank operations system.
"ARGO" software is among the most respected for handling branch automation, teller services, lending & underwriting operations, and many other areas of bank management. "ChangeMan" is one of the premier Software Change Management systems for large organizations.

QHI consultants have direct, on-site experience integrating these two packages for seamless operation of ARGO for bank operations, plus ChangeMan for Software Change Management (managing software changes across the whole enterprise, including ARGO).

The software integration was implemented by hooking into predefined entry and exit points provided by ChangeMan DS.

The ARGO product uses a custom software development environment that represents source code in a custom database. Data is stored in binary format that uses just a few files to represent, in this case, slightly over 50,000 individually editable elements. The ChangeMan DS product works better with text files for each individually editable element, so the integration worked by interfacing with vendor-supplied tools to provide text dumps of the binary data from ARGO for storage in ChangeMan DS.

The conversion process from binary to text and text to binary was seamless and assisted with a custom tool to manage the interaction between the two systems.

We implemented the same ARGO + ChangeMan combination earlier at TCF Bank, a smaller, regional bank in Minnesota. National City Bank was very pleased with the results demonstrated at TCF Bank, so we were called upon to implement the large ARGO installation/integration at National City Bank in Ohio (described above).

Our experience covers the implementation and integration of ARGO with other enterprise systems, particularly ChangeMan.
